Dr. Anitha A. is the Assistant Professor and Teacher In-charge at the Department of Social Work at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Regional Campus Payyanur since 2004. She did her MSW from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery, and completed her Ph.D. in Social Work from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. She has presented papers at International conferences, including the International Federation of Social Workers Conference (IFSW), Future of Women's International Conference, and National conferences, and published papers on areas largely focussed on topics related to human rights violations and the effects of domestic violence on children. She's currently the FYUGP (Four Year UG programme) Convenor of Department of Social Work of the University. As NAAC Coordinator (2019-2021) of SSUS RC Campus, she was instrumental in compiling, editing and publishing one of the best Campus Profiles. She's also played a key role in coordinating the syllabus restructuring of the Department of Social Work into OBTLE 2019 (Outcome Based Teaching Learning and Evaluation). She has also served as NSS Program Officer in the Campus. She's undertaken and coordinated various research and surveys on social causes (like education, street children, tsunami, women, street vendors, and other marginalized groups) and issues specific to the northern region of Kerala, like endosulfan. Recently, she was one of the Faculty coordinators of the State Level evaluation study on the implementation of the Probation of Offenders Act in Kerala, titled “Correctional Pluralism: An Enquiry into the Non-Custodial measures adopted for the adult offenders in Kerala”. A study conducted in collaboration with the Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala. As an executive member of the Non-governmental organization named "Pulari Aravath" (involved in agro-biodiversity conservation) in Kasaragod, she's actively involved in community engagement programs for children in her village. As Director of "Parava"- a group for developing pro-environment behavior and scientific curiosity among children on birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and other diverse species in nature, she's been guiding students to develop and present projects at Children's Science Congress and Bio-diversity Congress. She regularly organizes field trips and annual residential camps for children by collaborating with the Forest Department, Bio-diversity Management Committee, and Citizen Science groups of Kasaragod. She was the Chairperson of the Board of Studies in Social Work, Kannur University (2016-18) and a member of the Sexual Harassment Committee of CPCRI (Central Plantation Corporation Research Institute), Kasaragod in 2017. She continues to serve on several boards in the University and other Boards of studies in other Universities, and organizations in Kerala.
