Professor and former HoD, Departments of Sanskrit General and Vastuvidya, SSUS, Kalady. Guides students for research in the Faculty of Sanskrit Language and Literature as also at the Centre for Translation Studies; evaluates theses from other Universities. Has also taught in the Departments of Vyakarana and Sahitya and has been a Member of the Academic Council as well as in the Board of Studies for many subjects including Ayurveda. Was educated in Delhi and was a consistent topper in the University of Delhi from where, completed Higher Education from Graduation through Ph.D. Also taught at the Sree Venkateswara College, Satyawati College, and the Department of Sanskrit, University of Delhi, before joining Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady in 1995. Apart from organizing academic and outreach programs in the University, has presented papers in national and international seminars, chaired Sessions in some, and delivered invited lectures on several platforms. Has been consistently a part of the syllabus restructuring, paper-setting, assessment and evaluation process, both as a member and as chairperson in SSUS as well as other Universities. Has been a Resource Person for successive academic Orientation and Refresher Programs for College & University Teachers as also for Orientation of University and College teachers, Principals & IQAC Directors with respect to CAS, Quality Assurance and OBTLE. Has published a number of research papers, been a member of the Editorial Board for a book, been mentioned in four and authored four. Been fortunate to be mentored by doyens of Sanskrit such as the Jnanpith Laureate, late Professor Satya Vrat Shastri and also to translate his travelogue, Caran Vai Madhu Vindati, to English. Has served the RUSA-SPD as Technical Consultant, been the Member Secretary for SLQAC, and a member with AISHE; has represented the Department of Higher Education for meetings at the NAAC Office, Bangalore. Had brought together the Higher Education Institutions in Kerala and Himachal Pradesh as the Nodal Officer for HEI in the State for the EBSB Campaign, Government of India. Had a brief stint as Editor, on deputation, with the Department of Malayalam Lexicon, University of Kerala, during which time, prepared a bi-lingual (English & Malayalam) Handbook of Guidelines for the preparing of, and updating, the Volumes of the Malayalam Lexicon. Been member of an Expert Committee for the Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Official Language) Department, Govt of Kerala. Conversant in six languages and interests include, inter alia, Translation and Creative Writing. Pens poetry in Sanskrit and is a regular participant in prestigious Sanskrit Poets' Meets. Contributes translations into Sanskrit, of popular Hindi songs, for Doordarshan, which get telecast during their Sanskrit Weekly News slot.
