A study on seating facility and health concerns of employees working in the billing section was conducted by Dr. Lima Raj (Guest Faculty, 2021-25) with the students of M.Sc Psychology (2024-26) as field investigators. The study conducted among billing counter employees working in various corporate establishments, such as retail stores, clothing, and food outlets located across Kerala, reveals a concerning lack of seating facilities at billing counters as a Human rights violation and raises serious concerns about the psychological and physiological health due to prolonged standing. The study report was submitted to the Human Rights Commission of Kerala and later published in the Kerala State Human Rights Bulletin (Vol. 8, Issue 47). The Commission has acknowledged the diligent efforts of the study team in bringing this critical issue to light and appreciated it as a model of action research that encourages academia to focus more on human rights issues that require immediate solution. A copy of the report was submitted to Sri. V. Sivankutty (Hon. Minister for General Education and Labour) and Sri P. Rajeev (Hon. Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir), Government of Kerala. This report is under the consideration of the Labour Commission for policy drafting and issuing directives.
